Norwegian Schools have a plan with high ICT-use in Science. Use of simulators and interactive models are considered as classrooms activities as well as homework. The result of this must be presented in a digital form for publishing on interactive whiteboards, websites or just personal screens.
MultiMedia Lab is considered as a very good tool for this work. It is easy to use, have high performance, have good templates for different strategies and are cheap. It is penetrating the educational market as a yearly subscription costing less than 2 € per student. Every student can then have his own licence as long as he is a student of the subscribing School and use it as he pleases. All material made with the MultiMedia Lab is his to keep and can be published as he wish.
Students and Teachers can also publish their applications into the LMS of educational portals as SCORM packages, or view the packages private with the viewing tool for Internet Explorer – the Content Browser.
In short MultiMedia Lab covers all issues of the presentation part of ICT-use in any subject.
Examples:
A typical presentation done with MultiMedia Lab in Science is showing the water transport in tall trees like the Redwood stretching up to 130 meters.

A simple project presentation is made by making a local map from a map provider connecting the MultiMedia Lab to the web map engine by APIs. On the map the observations are fixed by coordinates and made into a clickable field showing the students findings in text, sound, pictures, animations etc.
SEE “project mapinfo”
And in Language one can make word – pronunciation drag & drop-combinations and situation doublets where one situation speaks one language and the other the same in another language (i.e. English – French or Norwegian – English). This is easily done because the MultiMedia lab has a Text To Speech engine inbuilt.

Even in Special Needs we can make simple applications for training concepts like sorting by size.
SEE “fat men sequence”.
As the text objects are connected to Google translator one may make direct translating between languages, even with different alphabets. One get of course what the automatic system can achieve, but in most cases it is understandable.
Multimedia Lab can be described as a Universal multimedia tool where you can present thoughts, projects, works, problems, decisions etc.
